We cut the kitchen bench off, cut a hole in the cork floor...
\
Then one day a van arrived...
...through our grimy windows we saw the lovely girl for the first time...
...she is a big girl but even her size doesn't indicate how weighty she is!
The floor had plastic and steel sheets to protect it...
She rolled through the lounge and into the kitchen...
It was no small feat...
and the boys loved chatting about all the details of installation...
Here she is on day one...
...no flue in this picture.
But I sit on the couch in front of her warming myself while I type. (yes we have a couch in
our kitchen - how did we live before this??)
and as K who sits beside me says..
...and that is that...
We love her.
We can't imagine life without her.
Sadly summer is coming and she will be resting up.
But I have loved every hot shower she made for us, (she heats our water)
every yummy meal she cooked,
every toasty rest I have had in front of her.
Aaah, she is grand our red esse 990.
We are yet to get a few radiaters but our life is warmer and richer and tastier for having her in it.

Awesome!! How're you coping with the loss of bench space? We just ripped out some cupboards to MAKE some more bench space (this is why I think of such things.)
ReplyDeleteshe looks lovely. There is something wonderful about that kind of warmth.
